“When Hollywood Kinda” Came to the Comstock or Don’t Mess with the Muckers!”, Michael Fischer
July 22 @ 7:00 pm$10
The premiere of the movie Virginia City in 1940 was a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde occurrence. The Reno portion went off without significant issue. The Virginia City portion was almost without any successes. Learn the details of both in this PowerPoint presentation by Dr. Michael Fischer and join the ghosts of Errol Flynn and Humphrey Bogart right there in Piper’s Opera House. How could a tale of drunks, hiding and later missing actors, a collapsing building and threats of lynching be anything but entrancing! And it all happened on the Comstock!
Bio: Mike Fischer, a life long Nevadan and former Dental Surgeon, Once retired he served as the “Director of the Nevada Department of Cultural Affairs” under Governor Gibbons and Governor Sandoval’s Cabinet until the department was formally disbanded.
