The Comstock Foundation For History & Culture Receives $20,000 Grant From NV Energy Foundation

June 25, 2019 @ 10:00 am

Those invited to attend include Storey and Lyon County commissioners and the Virginia City Tourism Commission Board. The general public is also invited. Following the check presentation a tour of the Donovan Mill will be provided.

Steven Saylor, Executive Director of the Comstock Foundation for History and Culture said, “We are very appreciative of the NV Energy Foundation and all their support towards our efforts in furthering the development of the new Donovan Mining Mill Museum & Visitor Center.”

Architects, The Dubé Group will unveil the rendering of the new museum at the event.

The NV Energy Foundation Grant directly funds the Donovan Mining Mill Museum & Visitors Center. Once completed, it will enhance the Comstock Foundations efforts towards historically accurate interpretation, access to the history and culture of this profoundly important industrial mining and milling complex and facilitate a much broader understanding of Comstock history within the Virginia City National Historic Landmark District.

Saylor added, “A significant display in the Donovan Mining Mill Museum & Visitors Center will include the history of electrical power coming to the Comstock and how it revolutionized and enabled mining across a wide spectrum on the Comstock Lode and the region.”
