$100 – $500
MARK TWAIN “THE BOHEMIAN OF THE SAGEBRUSH”
“Thank you, Comstock Foundation, for championing Nevada’s favorite son in Carson City’s first annual Mark Twain Days Festival. Having had the honor of portraying The Bohemian of the Sagebrush for 35 years, I am looking forward to a Last Hurrah at Piper’s Opera House, where it all started for us back in the summer of ’88. Please join us on September 30th for our final Evening with Mark Twain, dedicated to Steven Saylor and the volunteers of The Comstock Foundation for History & Culture. Your friend in history where facts are not essential.” ~ McAvoy Layne
Mark Twain. McAvoy is a winner of the Nevada Award for Excellence in School and Library Service. He played the ghost of Samuel Clemens in the Biography Channel’s episode of Mark Twain, and the Discovery Channel’s Cronkite Award-winning documentary, ‘Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.’ Says McAvoy, “It’s like being a Monday through Friday preacher, whose sermon, though not reverently pious, is fervently American.
