“Humboldt Range Silver– A Catalyst for Early Humboldt County Development”

September 14, 2023 @ 7:00 pm

Description: You could say it all started with show-and-tell to an eager audience on the Comstock. It was 1860 when the first specimens from the then-vacant Humboldt Range were put on display in Silver City.  In no time at all the Humboldt Range was crawling with activity resulting in the development of projects and growth along the Humboldt River in north central Nevada.  This presentation will provide an overview of some of the people, projects, and towns tied to the fever for Humboldt Range Silver.

Bio: Dana Toth has served as Executive Director of the Humboldt Museum for North Central Nevada Historical Society since 2011 and as Chairperson of the Winnemucca Historic Resources Commission since its inception in 2019. In recent years, Dana has been responsible for projects beyond the museum’s walls including the creation of many new history-inspired programs in Winnemucca such as the annual Haunted Bridge Street event, a digital walking tour of 72 locations and a 103-page publication titled Winnemucca’s Historical Tour of Downtown.  She has also prompted and contributed to the creation of the first Historic Preservation Plan for the City of Winnemucca.

Doors open at 6:30, Lecture starts at 7pm
Ticket Cost: $10 Tickets are available for purchase Online and at the door.
